Dr. George Wood, Honorary President of the Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (TSMA) and Lifetime Honorary Board Member of WFSGI, fully participated in both meetings. During the sessions, he delivered a presentation addressing how Taiwan and the broader Asian sporting goods industries are responding to post-pandemic market restructuring and the challenges brought by U.S.–China trade barriers.
Dr. Wood explained that while U.S. tariffs and supply chain shifts have accelerated Taiwanese manufacturers’ expansion into Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and even to U.S.A. the industry is simultaneously responding with product smartization, functional integration, and service upgrading. Many enterprises have also adopted a dual supply chain strategy to enhance flexibility and mitigate risks. Supported by government initiatives in finance, supply chain management, talent development, and market diversification, Taiwanese business leaders remain confident in maintaining competitiveness and contributing further to the global sporting goods industry.
Dr. Wood’s insightful presentation resonated strongly with all WFSGI participants, sparking enthusiastic discussions and receiving widespread recognition — making it an exceptionally successful speech.
